Bruichladdich

Bruichladdich distillery

Due to the temporary closure of the Bruichladdich bottling plant, the intended Feis Ile bottling could not be bottled. However, a new bottling has been allocated for Feis 2020 although it does not have any reference to the Feis on it.

The chosen dram was a heavily peated 16-year old Port Charlotte and is the oldest released to date. Distilled in 2003, the Scottish Barley new-make was filled into three different batches of casks.

  1. Batch One - Refill hogsheads, recasked into first fill bourbon barrels in 2012
  2. Batch Two - First fill bourbon barrels, recasked into ex-Sauternes casks in 2013
  3. Batch Three - A complex assemblage of ex-sherry, ex-bourbon and virgin oak casks

The vatted blend is bottled at 55.8% ABV and is limited to 3,000 bottles, which can only be purchased through the ballot, a new scheme devised back in February 2020 and a jolly good idea too. No more crashed websites, pending shopping baskets, hung browsers, etc.
